What Really Is Kefir?

by Giselle

kefir jarPeople keep asking what is kefir? In a nutshell, Kefir is an awesome beverage that is loaded with benefits. It is made by culturing fresh milk with kefir grains or you can also use sweetened water with it if you do not like milk.

The Kefir you get from the grains is the most potent source of probiotics (friendly bacteria) you can find. I have no idea why people keep on wasting money with probiotic pills found in their local stores. You get about 15 different strains of friendly bacteria from them but Kefir alone has 42 different strains! Even a laboratory manufactured pill cannot compare to a natural drink like Kefir. There really is no comparison and Kefir is definitely superior to any probiotic pill or any other food for that matter, in the world.

If you want to learn more about different strains, please head on to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Probiotics or see my posts here on the site.

So what is kefir? It’s something you’ll love. :)
